First strike (for the Huntress)
Huntress, you might think that the onus is on the man to strike up a conversation. But surprisingly, studies have shown that about two-thirds of romantic encounters are initiated by women. In fact, this is one of nature’s ingenious designs. In the animal kingdom, animals in love attract each other by screaming, crowing or stomping on the ground, which is much more straightforward than humans.
When a female in heat sees a male she likes, “she will walk right up to him and push her butt under his nose to attract his attention; Then she pulls the male up and starts mating.” This behavior is called “female initiative.”
Female initiative (as opposed to the concept of female passivity) is also abundant in human societies, but we are (I wish I could say) less visible.
How do women initiate encounters? Do as children do, as birds or bees or every other species in God’s wonderful animal kingdom: use a tool that grabs the other’s attention.
Ladies, if you’re dancing in a disco and you see a handsome man sitting at a table away or a panting handsome man on the treadmill next to you at the gym, what should you do?
The normal situation should be like this: after seeing the man, the woman will look at him briefly for half a second, and then immediately avert her eyes. Bold women smile, look away, and expect him to make the first move (after all, she doesn’t want to be too aggressive).
Just as only one of the 50,000 seeds of a dandelion can take root, if you only use the above strategies, the probability of you and the handsome man falling in love is about one in 50,000. You need to do something other than look at each other and smile, and the rest of the story is up to heaven.
